This morning, we had a bit of a scare. Linda called the doctor's office today to see what they thought. They asked her to come in to make sure everything was okay. Of course, this worried us both as we thought what had happened was something normal during pregnancy. But all is well! The doctor said that what happened was somewhere between normal and weird, but not-so-weird that it has never happened, but not-so-normal enough that it was good to come in and have it checked out.
Our doctor had a hard time still finding the heartbeat through the Doppler. So to put everyone's mind to rest, she performed another ultrasound. So we got to see the Nugg once again! I rushed out of the house this afternoon to make it to the doctors office, so I failed to bring in our camera! But our doctor gave us some ultrasound pics! I failed to ask her what Nugg's length and heart rate was... She said all looked good and didn't see anything that concerned her. See below for the pictures:
This week, the 13th week, the Nugget has fingerprints!! Veins and organs are still visible through the translucent skin... Nugg's body is trying to catch up with their head, which makes up about a third of the size of the total body length. Nugget's eyes are moving closer together. Up until now, Nugg's eyes were more to the sides of the head. The vocal cords have also started forming! The intestines are also moving further back into the abdominal cavity. Nugg's pancreas has now started to produce insulin. Right now, Nugg would be about the size of a medium shrimp, or almost 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce. If McNugget is a girl, she has over 2 million eggs in her ovaries right now... That's mind-boggling!
So, again, all is well here. We canceled our next doctor's appointment for October 9th, since we were so close to that...and rescheduled for October 23rd. From what I understand, this will be just a general checkup. The appointment after that is the BIG appointment...when we find out if Nugg is gonna be a girl or a boy! We have that on the books for November 20th. I don't think I can wait that long!!! I'm impatient.
